The Royal School of Needlework @royalneedlework ha

The Royal School of Needlework @royalneedlework has a project to preserve knowledge of stitches with an online archive called the Stitch Bank. Benefactors can sponsor an addition to this bank in honour of a living person or in memory of someone who has died.

I am very honoured and deeply touched that the Guild of St Clare @guildofstclare has sponsored a stitch at the RSN in memory of my daughter Evelyn who died in November after a 22 month battle with Ewing sarcoma (bone cancer): https://rsnstitchbank.org/stitch/fence-stitch

The year 2024 is, thankfully, coming to an end. Go

The year 2024 is, thankfully, coming to an end. Good riddance. And while I will never recover from the tragic loss of my daughter, I know I have a lot to be thankful for. I am grateful to God for giving me the gift of my beautiful daughter, even though 16 years will never feel enough. I am grateful to God for the blessing of so much love that surrounds my family and me and which I can see most clearly from the depths of the darkness of the last year and the present. The amount of support, the many prayers and Masses that have been offered for my daughter and us have been overwhelming. I am grateful for the incredible blessing of belonging to the Oxford Oratory @oxford.oratory and for the extraordinary support we have received there when we needed it most. Being Catholic helped me to cope and survive this year. God is good.

Despite not being able to do much work this past year, I still managed to fit in a few special projects: a number of Passiontide veils for @corpuschristishrine, a few reversible stoles, a restoration of a stole for @oxford.oratory and a restoration and relining of a stole and a chasuble for an ordination @yorkoratory.

For the moment, I am taking time off to recover from everything that happened in the last 2 years. I am planning to take it slowly, starting with finishing some projects that have been patiently waiting for me in my sewing studio. I will return to full-time vestment making when I am ready, probably, some time in the course of the new year. I will make an announcement when I am ready to take on new commissions.

Yesterday my beautiful daughter was laid to rest.

Yesterday my beautiful daughter was laid to rest. Her Requiem Mass at the Oxford Oratory @oxford.oratory was a glimpse of Heaven on earth for all of us whom Evelyn left behind. The music - Victoria 1605 Requiem - was simply out of this world. Our big church was full, many of Evelyn's friends, teachers, doctors and nurses came to say goodbye to her, which was the most beautiful testimony to how many lives she had touched.

Please pray for the happy repose of the soul of my 16 year old daughter Evelyn who went to the Lord on Monday 18th November after a 22 months long battle with the most aggressive, painful and rare form of bone cancer - Ewing sarcoma.

She was the sweetest loving girl who brought sunshine to the lives of many people. She loved cats and art. Her main wish was to raise awareness for Ewing sarcoma and she bravely shared her cancer story on TikTok and Instagram @survivingwithsarcoma . She also started a fundraiser for @sarcoma_uk in the hope that the cure could be found for Ewing sarcoma and that it would stop being a death sentence for other children in the future. https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-evie-fund-ewing-sarcoma-cancer-research
